Welcome to Tutor Stone. By booking and participating in our tutoring services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

1. Services Offered

Tutor Stone provides 1-1 and group tutoring services for STEM GCSE and A-level subjects, all exam boards. We offer 1-hour slots that you can book during the week, and multiple slots can be booked if desired. Once you’ve booked a slot, that slot will be reserved for you with your assigned tutor on a weekly basis.

2. Intellectual Property Rights

As part of our commitment to enhancing your learning experience, Tutor Stone may provide you with educational resources, including but not limited to revision notes, worked solutions to exam questions, and other study materials. These resources are offered exclusively for your personal educational purposes.

Upon acquiring our resources, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them to support your learning while utilizing our tutoring services and after the termination of services. However, it is imperative to note the following restrictions:

  1. Prohibited Distribution: You are strictly prohibited from selling, publishing, reproducing, or sharing these resources, in whole or in part, with any third party, whether for commercial purposes or otherwise, under any circumstances. This restriction includes, but is not limited to, posting materials on public websites, forums, or social media platforms.
  2. Respect for Copyright: You are expected to respect and uphold the copyrights and intellectual property rights associated with these resources. They remain the exclusive property of Tutor Stone or their respective creators, and no transfer of ownership or rights is granted to you.
  3. Legal Consequences: Any breach of these terms may result in legal action or the imposition of penalties in accordance with intellectual property laws.

By accessing and using these educational resources, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms and conditions related to their use. We trust that you will find these materials valuable in your educational journey, and we appreciate your cooperation in safeguarding our intellectual property.

3. Code of Conduct

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour toward our staff. If a student’s behaviour is deemed disrespectful, insulting, extremely disruptive, or otherwise inappropriate by our tutors, they have the right to take appropriate action. In 1-1 lessons, the lesson may be stopped. In group sessions, the student may be removed from the session. In such cases, any payment made for the lesson will not be refunded, and Tutor Stone may take further action, such as permanently removing the student from our tutoring list, if we deem it to be necessary.

Please be aware that all lessons are recorded for safeguarding and monitoring purposes. These recordings will be stored for a maximum of 30 days. For more information on data handling, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

4. Payment

All lesson payments must be made 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. We accept payment through Paypal, Stripe, or bank transfer, and our pricing is outlined on our website.

5. Cancellation

You can cancel a scheduled lesson at any time. We recommend cancelling as soon as possible to allow us to accommodate other students in that slot. You can reschedule a cancelled lesson by finding an appropriate time with your tutor when you are both free. Note however that repeatedly cancelling your scheduled lessons on short notice may result in the termination of your contract with us (see section “6. Termination” below)

Please note that all payments are non-refundable so if you cancel a lesson for which you’ve already made a payment, the payment will not be refunded.

6. Termination

You can terminate your use of our services at any time.

Additionally, we reserve the right to terminate our tutoring services under the following circumstances:

  1. Non-Payment: In the event of persistent non-payment for scheduled lessons or other outstanding fees, we may terminate services. We will provide notice before taking such action.
  2. Repeated cancellations: In the event of repeatedly cancelling scheduled lessons, especially on short notice, we may choose to terminate our services. We will provide notice before taking such action.
  3. Violation of Code of Conduct: If a client repeatedly engages in disrespectful, disruptive, or otherwise inappropriate behaviour towards our staff, we may terminate services with immediate effect. In such cases, any payment made for the lesson will not be refunded.
  4. Breach of Terms and Conditions: Failure to comply with the Terms and Conditions outlined herein may lead to the termination of our services. We will make reasonable efforts to address and rectify issues before taking this action.

7. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from or relating to our services, including the use of our website and tutoring services, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the United Kingdom.

By using our services, you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom for the resolution of any disputes or legal matters. These Terms and Conditions are intended to comply with and be governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.

8. Limitation of Liability

Tutor Stone is committed to providing high-quality tutoring services and educational resources. However, we must emphasize that our services are provided on an “as-is” basis, and we do not make any guarantees regarding specific outcomes or results. While our hand-picked tutors are experienced and knowledgeable in their respective fields, we do not guarantee any particular academic progress for individual students.

Under no circumstances shall Tutor Stone, its employees, tutors, or affiliates, be liable for any direct, indirect, special, consequential, or incidental damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profits, or any other financial or personal losses arising from the use of our services or materials.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of our services and materials. However, Tutor Stone shall not be held responsible for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the content provided.

9. Indemnification

By using our tutoring services, you agree to indemnify and hold Tutor Stone, its employees, tutors, and affiliates, harmless from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, that arise from or in connection with your use of our services, your violation of these Terms and Conditions, or your infringement of any rights of any third party.

This indemnification clause extends to any third-party claims, whether they arise from your use of the services or actions by individuals with whom you share your account.

Tutor Stone will provide prompt notice of any such claim and the right to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you. You agree to cooperate fully in the defense of such claims.

10. Complaints Procedure

Our tutors are hand-picked to be passionate, experienced, knowledgeable, and professional individuals. They are expected to uphold strict professionalism when tutoring students (see our Code of Conduct for Tutors).

If you, whether a student or parent, feel that any of our tutors are behaving inappropriately, please submit a complaint by emailing safeguarding@tutorstone.com. We take all complaints seriously and will investigate the situation immediately. If it is determined that a tutor has behaved inappropriately, Tutor Stone will take appropriate disciplinary action, which may include legal action, as necessary.
